When you or a loved one receives a cancer diagnosis, it is normal to feel overwhelmed. It can be helpful to understand what to expect moving forward. Although everyone is different, the following steps are a common pathway for our patients.
1. Booking an appointment
We have dedicated specialists with experience across all blood disorders including malignant and non-malignant conditions. As a patient, you have control of deciding your choice of specialist and the preferred clinic location. To discuss the treatment options available at Icon, send us a message or contact our clinic directly.
2. Your first appointment
You will meet your experienced specialist at your first appointment to discuss your diagnosis and treatment plan, addressing any questions or concerns you may have. Throughout your entire treatment, your specialist will continue to care for you.
3. Before starting treatment
Further to your first appointment, one of our experienced care team members will spend time with you to explain your treatment; what to expect and how to manage possible treatment side effects. They will also chat about possible anxiety you and your family might be feeling. Our team collaborates with your specialist to ensure your care is truly personalised to your needs and those of your loved ones.
4. Beginning treatment
Your appointment and treatment length is dependent upon the treatment you will receive. Throughout your treatment and beyond, your specialist and care team will monitor your progress, address your side effects and listen to any concerns or fears you may have. Our team are here to support you and ensure you are confident in your treatment and decisions.
It is important to us that you are well informed and as comfortable as possible during your visit. We offer a variety of services to support patients and families, including:
